Frequently asked questions
Why have a VFX supervisor on set?
I am on the shoot to make sure what is filmed can be finished in post. I coordinate directly between the production team (EP, AD, DOP, director) and the remote VFX studios, and I make decisions on complex VFX shots while they are still cheap to change.
What do you deliver from set?
Footage you can use, and a comprehensive PDF shoot report (ShotBOT) with Qtake or Teradek frame captures. Beyond that, I collect data, depending on the shoot: stitched multi-bracket HDRIs, survey data (photogrammetry, Gaussian splats), lens distortion grids, witness cam clips, reference photography, textures…
What equipment do you bring?
I own the essential kit: a Lumix S5 full-frame mirrorless camera, a set of lenses, a Ricoh Theta Z1 with dual 1-inch sensors, tripods, diffuse and mirror spheres, and Macbeth colour charts. Should a shoot require more, I'll rent it.
Why are you both a CG/VFX supervisor and an on-set VFX supervisor?
Each informs the other. On set, I can anticipate what post will need, protect the footage and collect the necessary data to integrate CG into the scene. In post, I work across the pipeline, from camera tracking and simulation to lighting, rendering and compositing, knowing exactly what was captured and why.
Where do you work?
Anywhere you need me. I'm based in Bangkok, so shoots here carry no travel or accommodation costs for you. I've supervised on large-scale productions across Southeast Asia, China and South Africa.
Which studios do you work with?
I collaborate remotely with international VFX studios including Framestore (London), Jamm Visual (Los Angeles), Digital District (Paris), Black Kite Studio (London), SAUVAGE.TV (Barcelona), RARO_STUDIO Lab (Buenos Aires), Electric Theater Collective (London/NYC), Rascal (London) and Mathematic Studio (Los Angeles).
How do I get in touch about a project?
Just leave me a message and I'll reply with my availability. The form lands directly in my inbox (I leave my email off the site for now, to keep spam down).
