About
I'm Olivier Welter, a freelance CG/VFX Supervisor and On-Set VFX Supervisor based in Bangkok, Thailand.
I started in Paris in the early 1990s, alpha testing for Thomson Digital Image and later Alias|Wavefront (now Autodesk). Then came Fantôme, where some 200 artists worked in shifts around the clock on the International Emmy-winning Insektors, the first full-CG TV series. And Ex Machina, a smaller, creative shop. Then Montreal, at Hybride, on North American TV commercials and film, at a much quieter pace. Each was a different scale, pipeline and culture.
I moved to Bangkok to join Iloura, where I spent three years and won the Malaysian Video Awards twice, Gold and Bronze. Kantana Animation approached me to join them as CG Supervisor, and I guided the studio's transition to Maya while also working client-facing and on set; that year we won Silver at the International Monitor Awards.
Over the following two decades I headed the CG/VFX department at Fame Post, winning Best 3D Animation at the Asian Television Awards, then led VFX teams at The Post Bangkok and Indigo Production Asia.
Today I split my time between executing shots at my own workstation and supervising VFX on set across Southeast Asia.
